Today, the Port of Tilbury, the UK's fastest-growing port, welcomed Maritime Minister Mike Kane MP for a comprehensive briefing and tour. The visit marked a significant step forward as the port outlined its ambitious plans to expand further within the Thames Freeport area, fueled by substantial private investment.

The Port of Tilbury is set to expand its operations onto a 100-acre site to the east of its existing port, Tilbury2. This new development, aptly named Tilbury3, will cater to rising market demands and enhance the port's capabilities in renewables, recycling and logistics. Situated within the Thames Freeport tax site land area, Tilbury3 aims to create and sustain skilled jobs while supporting the current and future needs of its customers.

During his visit, Maritime Minister Mike Kane had the opportunity to meet with apprentices and graduates, gaining insight into the extensive training and skills development initiatives offered by the Forth Ports Group. Accompanied by Forth Ports’ Chief Executive Stuart Wallace, Chief Operating Officer Paul Dale, and Commercial Director Peter Ward, the Minister toured the port’s state-of-the-art training simulator suite.
Reflecting on the visit, Minister Kane remarked, “It was fantastic to visit the Port of Tilbury today to see the sheer extent of their operations and to meet with their hardworking apprentices and graduate students.
