17-Storey Cardiff Development
In Cardiff, HG Construction will deliver Fusion’s proposed student accommodation development at Longcross Court. The scheme will rise to 17 storeys and transform a prominent, well-connected site into a new student-living destination. The height and urban location of the development are expected to require careful coordination across structure, logistics, façade installation, building services and public-interface management.
High-rise student accommodation schemes can present complex delivery conditions, particularly where construction takes place within established city-centre environments with restricted access and neighbouring buildings remaining operational. Brownfield Regeneration in Loughborough
The second project will see HG Construction deliver a 541-bed student accommodation scheme beside the Grand Union Canal Basin in Loughborough. Its waterside setting provides an opportunity to create a distinctive residential environment while reconnecting an underused site with the surrounding area.
The scheme demonstrates how investment in student accommodation can support wider regeneration objectives by bringing vacant land back into productive use, improving the local environment and introducing new public-realm and landscaping features. Brownfield projects can nevertheless bring additional construction risks, including uncertain ground conditions, existing services, contamination, access restrictions and the need to protect nearby waterways and neighbouring properties.
