Good construction businesses can still look surprisingly quiet online. Completed projects remain on phones, social media stops when site work gets busy, and a company with years of experience can appear less established online than its actual track record suggests. That is the gap Social Growth Systems is trying to address. Founded by Dana Grochowska and based in Essex, the business works with UK builders, trades and local service companies on social media, online visibility and the route between being discovered and receiving an enquiry.
Marketing built around how customers check contractors
Grochowska's approach starts with a straightforward question: what does a potential customer actually see before deciding whether to contact a contractor? A recommendation may put a builder's name in front of a client, but the next step is increasingly digital. Customers search the company name, look at recent work, check reviews, visit social profiles and try to understand whether the contractor carries out the type of project they need.
Social Growth Systems describes that journey as Find. Trust. Enquire. The idea is to establish whether the right customer can find the business, whether the information and project evidence they see creates enough confidence to continue, and whether the route to making contact is clear. For construction companies, that can mean something as basic as making better use of completed-project photographs, customer reviews, service information and geographic coverage rather than simply increasing the volume of posts.
Construction work can become marketing evidence
The construction industry already produces much of the material needed for credible marketing. Extensions, refurbishments, roofing works, structural alterations, kitchens, bathrooms, landscaping and commercial projects all generate visible evidence of capability. The problem is often that the evidence is never organised or published. Photographs stay on individual phones, older website pages remain unchanged and social accounts can go weeks or months without showing what the company is currently delivering. Social Growth Systems focuses on turning that existing work into clearer online proof rather than treating marketing as something entirely separate from the construction business.
Audits, strategy, social media and Meta advertising
The company's services currently include social media audits, marketing strategy, ongoing social media management, one-off content support and Meta advertising. Grochowska says the starting point should depend on the problem identified rather than automatically moving a client towards the largest marketing package. Her background includes four years working with social media in-house before moving into freelance work, alongside formal digital-marketing training and Meta advertising qualifications. She has worked with Meta Ads since 2025. The business also publishes practical material aimed specifically at trades and contractors. Recent subjects have included qualifying building enquiries before spending time quoting, assessing enquiry routes and considering whether falling enquiries really justify reducing prices.
Before cutting prices, check the pipeline
That last point is particularly relevant to contractors operating in a competitive market. When the phone becomes quieter, reducing prices can appear to be the quickest response. Grochowska argues that contractors should first establish what has actually changed. Demand may have weakened, a previously productive referral source may have slowed, the business may be attracting the wrong type of work, or prospective clients may simply be struggling to verify recent projects and experience online.
Her recent article, How to Get More Building Work Without Cutting Prices, sets out a practical pipeline check for construction businesses facing that situation. Dana Grochowska is also preparing a separate expert contribution for London Construction Magazine examining what contractors should check when enquiries slow before deciding that price is the problem.
